The Sensory Ethno Mixed Tape v.1.0

Would it be really lame if I made a mixed tape for our class? Yes? Oops! The connections to your projects aren't especially profound, but hopefully this will provide you with a little inspiration… and dancing!

DOWNLOAD HERE (from Megaupload)

Or listen to it streaming (from Project Playlist)

  3. hahaha, this is great! and the spoon song is so perfect--I think you should be the dj for our sensory ethno party reunion! I was already going to write that if adam sneaks home almond wine, I will grab some Chimays. And perhaps start praticing my bhangra... you never cease to amaze ty!

  4. Mmmm Chimay. Unfortch VN beer is just like water. But I can probably get raw extract of some wild creature.

    Kidding.

  5. I just want to visit the monks--any preference for red or blue top? I will take a special order just for you! do they ferment these extracts of wild creatures?

I want elisa to get the recipe for fermented millet in giant jugs that they drink with very long straws in rwanda (if it's at all like uganda)...

  8. international paaaar-tay! love it! not sure if nepal has any tasty beverages (julia?)--the women vehemently refused on my behalf the only time the men offered me the "white" wine they drink here. i could bring home a whole bucket of crown powder, though, and cook up some roti to soak up all that alcohol!

  9. Ty, sorry, I just saw this - definitely:
1.) chang (rice beer, white in color, sour in flavor)
2.) raksi (homemade millet liquor, strong, pretty disgusting in taste, but tolerable if you can handle whiskey)
3.) and something I can't remember the name of but is quite like Cynthia's description above of the stuff that looks like swamp water and is drunk with a straw
4.) and the ubiquitous, Tuborg: slogan: "Wherever You Are" (which is pretty true).

not sure you'll be able to bring any of these home (except maybe Tuborg, which you can buy here anyway and isn't Nepali anyway)

Can't wait to see you all!
    keep rockin' "wherever you are!"

  10. recently found out that the "white wine" is actually chaang, and the "crown powder" is actually "corn flour." if i had a nickel for every word lost in translation!

i've since tried tuborg! though they've got a new slogan now: "great minds drink alike." :)
